DW Innovation
Privacy policy
We collect as little as we can, we never sell or share it, and we use no tracking or ads. This page explains what we keep, why, and for how long.

1. Who is responsible
The data controller is DW Innovation, a Danish sole proprietorship, CVR 21487791. Questions about your data go through the contact form. Choose the topic "My data".
2. What we collect
- Your account. Your name, your language, the date you accepted the terms, and when you were last active.
- Your email address. Stored encrypted, and used only to sign you in and to send you messages about your account. It is never shown to anyone.
- Google sign-in. If you choose it, Google tells us a fixed account number and your email address. We do not receive your Google password or your contacts, and we do not use your Google picture.
- What you share. Your posts, comments, likes, friend requests and friendships, and photos, photo albums, video or music on a page you run.
- Messages. The messages and photos you send to friends, who you write with and when, how far each of you has read, your reactions, and anyone you blocked in Messages, and the groups you are in, their names and who made them. That someone is typing is kept for a few seconds only, and never in the database.
- Phone notifications. Only if you turn them on. Your browser gives us an address at its push service and two keys, nothing else about your device. A notification about a message shows who wrote, never the text.
- The place on a post. Only if you turn on "Add my location" when you write a post. We save the town, region and country with that post, never a street address and never your exact position. You can change or remove the place at any time by editing the post.
- Your birthday. Only if you add it on your account page, and only the day and the month, never the year. Only your friends are shown it, and they get a reminder on the day. You can remove it at any time.
- Polls. When you answer a poll, we save your answer. Everyone who can see the poll sees the results, with small pictures of some of the people behind each answer. You can change or take back your answer at any time.
- The weekly email. If you have not visited for a week and something happened, we send you one short email about it, at most once a week. We save when it was sent. You can turn it off at any time on My account.
- Mentions. When someone writes @ and your name in a post or comment, we save that you were named, so we can tell you and link to your page. Only people who can already see that page can be named.
- Safety data. A scrambled code made from your internet address, never the address itself. It is used to stop spam and attacks.
- Moderation records. Reports, warnings and blocks, and the reasons for them.
- Contact and report forms. The name, email address and message you write. A contact message is sent to DW Innovation by email and is not stored on the site. A report of illegal content is stored with its decision, and your email address is stored encrypted.
3. Why we use it, and on what legal basis
- To give you the service you signed up for, such as your account, your page and your friends. The basis is our agreement with you, GDPR article 6(1)(b).
- To keep the pages safe from spam and abuse. The basis is our legitimate interest in a safe service, GDPR article 6(1)(f).
- To answer reports of illegal content and to keep records we are required to keep. The basis is our legal obligations, GDPR article 6(1)(c).
4. Who can see what
- Your name is shown next to what you write.
- Some family pages are public. Other pages can only be seen by the owner's friends, unless the owner chooses otherwise. A child's page is never public and is hidden from search engines.
- DW Innovation, as administrator, can see the content on all pages in order to moderate it, but cannot see your email address in the interface.
- Messages can only be read by the people in the chat. They are not shown in any administrator screen, and DW Innovation does not read or monitor them.
- We share nothing with advertisers or data brokers.
5. Who helps us
- Our web host stores the site, the database and the media files on servers in the EU.
- Email codes and messages are sent through our web host's mail server.
- Google, only if you choose to sign in with Google.
- The push service of your browser (for example Google, Apple, Mozilla or Microsoft), only if you turn on notifications. Notifications are sent there encrypted.
- OpenStreetMap (Nominatim), only when you use "Add my location". Our server sends it your position, rounded to about one kilometre, once, to find the name of the town. It does not learn who you are, and we do not keep the position.
- YouTube, only if you press play on a YouTube video in a post or a message. The video then plays from youtube-nocookie.com, and YouTube's own privacy policy applies. Until you press play, the picture and title come from our own server.
Fonts are stored on our own server, so your browser does not contact Google Fonts or other font services.
When a post or a message links to another website, our server fetches that page's title, description and share picture once, when the post or message is written, and keeps a copy here. The copy for a message is only shown to the people in that chat. Visitors' browsers do not contact the other website until they open the link. The copy is deleted when no post or message has the link any more.
6. How long we keep it
- Scrambled internet address codes and limits against abuse, 30 days at most.
- Expired sign-ins, sign-in codes and unfinished sign-ups, deleted every day.
- Unfinished uploads, 24 hours.
- Spam and content from blocked accounts, deleted 30 days after the block.
- Moderation and security logs, 12 months.
- Reports of illegal content, 12 months after the decision.
- Records needed to keep a blocked person out, reviewed after 24 months.
- Messages, until the sender deletes them or deletes their account. Deleting a chat removes it from your own list only.
- Your account and what you share, until you delete it.
7. Cookies
We use only cookies that the site needs to work. There are no tracking, statistics or advertising cookies, so we do not ask for consent. The cookies are:
- dwsocial_s. Keeps you signed in, for up to 30 days.
- dwsocial_lang. Remembers English or Danish, for one year.
- dwsocial_csrf. Protects forms against misuse, while you browse.
- dwsocial_pend, dwsocial_new, dwsocial_gflow, dwsocial_join, dwsocial_glink and dwsocial_friend. Carry a sign-in or sign-up from one step to the next, for 30 minutes at most.
- dws_invite. Keeps an invitation link while you sign in, for 24 hours at most.
8. Your rights
You have the right to:
- see the data we have about you, and get a copy
- have wrong data corrected
- have your data deleted
- object to how we use it, or ask us to limit it
- take your data with you to another service
On your account page you can change your name and language, download your data, and delete your account yourself. Deleting removes your comments, likes, messages you sent, friendships, page, email address and sign-in methods. If an account was blocked, we keep only the scrambled code needed to keep the block in place.
You can complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency, Datatilsynet, at datatilsynet.dk.
9. Children
You must be 13 or older to create an account. A child's page is never public, never shown in search engines, and never shared outside the site.
10. Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, members are told on the site before the change applies.
