Capability System
Local Assistant can automatically select the best model for different tasks. Configure this in Settings → Model Capabilities.
Capability Types
- Chat: General conversation (default model)
- Code: Programming and technical questions
- Vision: Image analysis and OCR
- Personal: Private or sensitive conversations
Auto-Select
When Auto-Select is enabled, Local Assistant analyzes your message and automatically switches to the appropriate model. For example:
- Asking about Python code → Switches to Code model
- Attaching an image → Switches to Vision model
- Mentioning "personal" or "private" → Switches to Personal model
